Our partner school in La Rochelle has a long tradition of welcoming Irish students of Transition and Leaving Certificate who are looking for an intensive language course combined with afternoon activity programmes and good host families to further perfect the language.
La Rochelle is situated on the Atlantic coast of France and has a direct flight connection to Dublin. French classes are held each week day morning at the school in the centre of the city. There is a break for lunch and in the afternoons classes and workshops continue with a mix of LC preparation and French culture classes. Classes are finally finished by 16.45h and there is still time for an afternoon activity which will included guided town tour, visit to the natural history museum or on a Friday sailing instead of classes. Students eat dinner and spend the evenings with host families except for two evenings per week when activities are offered. There is 1 full day outing per week on a Saturday normally to the beautiful Ille de Ré.
This is absolutely a recommended option for those students looking to push ahead with grammar and oral comprehension for final exams.
