It cannot be denied by anyone who knows anything about boats that La Rochelle is an enviable place to be able to sail on the beautiful Atlantic coast. The special thing about this programme is the chance to meet lots of young French teens who sail at the club during the summer holidays.
French classes are held each week day morning at the school in the centre of the city. Classes are held from 10.00h-13.50h on Mondays and 09.00h-12.15h from Tuesdays-Fridays.
There is a break for lunch (provided by caterer) and then a short walk to the sailing club where classes begin at around 14.00h. After getting the dinghies prepared for the water there is normally appx 4 hours each afternoon on the water with the instructors and all the other participants. There are normally appx 75 participants per week at the sailing school.
Students who choose to stay with host families will eat dinner and spend the evenings with them except on evenings when activities are organised by the school. Should participants wish to stay in the school residence this is also a possibility and is subject to a supplement. The residence is only 600m walk from the language school and each room has 2 beds, toilet and shower. There is a common area and rooftop terrace as well as large swimming pool on-site. Breakfast is served at the residence and dinner is organised off-site with partner restaurants nearby.
There is 1 full day outing per week on a Saturday normally to the beautiful Ille de Ré.
This is absolutely a recommended option for those students who also wish to meet lots of French boys and girls their age and get out on the water!
